HALF LIGHT
2024
“As someone who has always had a soft spot for industrial music, “Half Light” genuinely impressed me. It’s an album that not only pays homage to the genre’s roots but also pushes boundaries in a refreshing way.” – Cheers to the Vikings
forever dying in your eyes
2022
“It’s that look you see when something you held on for, lets you go. Whether it is a group, a belief, a person, a parade of ideas that once could have changed the world, or just the simple remains of humanity, it is the knowledge that as you stare into the pupils of the one who matters most that you see them Forever Dying In Your Eyes.” – Liverpool Sound and Vision

“History Of Guns’ musical style is to have no style, they try to cram as many different genres as possible on to the album which has very mixed results.. opening track ’Kicking Down The Doors’ the band embrace a bit of punk, sounding like the Anti -Nowhere League.. this then leads into ‘Friday Night, After Work’ which goes into full dance mode and third track I.C.E takes you into Nine Inch Nails territory. You also have ambient tracks, a bit more punk and a couple that could be filler on a Prodigy album.” – Get Ready to Rock

“If you are free from sound/genre boundaries History Of Guns is a good band to check.” – Chain D.L.K.

“History Of Guns continue to show their invention across this second full-length LP. Interesting percussion abounds, the actual sound incorporates lots of variation. For example, we’ve the usual History Of Guns industrial sounds, but mixed with a house line. Mixed with dance beats. Mixed with heavy-metal sections.” – Adrian Denning Reviews
flashes of light
2004
“…stylistically unstable and filled with massive, intricate compositions. However, it’s an interesting and diverse offering that will likely reveal its depth through further listens. Probably more likely to appeal to those with musical tastes that are relatively left of center, it’s a nice stab at genre-blending and experimentation that’s resulted in something rather unique and quite worthwhile.” – Grave Concerns

2009
“Looking through my groaning shelves recently I noticed that History Of Guns‘ musical references are diverse and unclassifiable: I found their pretty decent Hawkwind cover in the midst of the space rock bands. That, however, is nothing compared to the sheer variety of musical forms on show in this packed collection.” – The Dreaded Press (Duncan Collins)

issue five: all the natural beauty of a golf course
April 2007
5/6 Issue Five should have been rapidly recorded and banged out guitar songs. First one written was Born, Brutalised, Bought then Buried, but the new record deal with Line Out Records led to a new priority of focussing everything into making the best album possible.
issue four: whitby promo 2006
October 2006
4/6 Pause in the year of bimonthly EP release campaign due to negotiations with Line Out Records. A follow up to the previous Whitby Promo 2004 collection, and part of the campaign to get booked to play Whitby Goth Weekend,
issue Three: poker face
October 2006
3/6 Issue three. New electronic music. Regrettably samples Nikki Grahame from UK Big Brother 2006, as a comment on the Simon Cowell model of making money from televising and mocking mental ill-health. History Of Guns are no stranger to mental health issues, and regret this satirising mental issues as entertainment, as entertainment, and wish they’d addressed it more kindly and respectfully.
issue Two: electricity is the answer
May 2006
2/6 Sometimes you just get lucky with a sky and a boat and a perfect night. Arguably the best of the series.
